Hentai Foundry Review

Hentai FoundryVerdict
Hentai Foundry is an artist community, not an archive. Everything is drawn by the account that posted it, and the submission rules ban tracing, AI generation and official studio art outright. That makes it the rare adult gallery where provenance is the point. The policy pages, however, have barely moved since 2012.
An art community that polices its own provenance
The rule that defines Hentai Foundry sits in section 1 of its submission policy: you must be the copyright holder of what you post. Staff reject traced work, art lifted from other artists, screenshots, photography of people, and since December 2022, anything generated by machine learning systems. Six other adult manga sites in this index host scanned and translated published works. This one hosts drawings made by the accounts that uploaded them, which is a different product entirely and explains why it carries roughly 7,300 ranking keywords off artist and character names rather than title searches.
The content controls are unusually granular for the category. Submissions carry advisory labels across nudity, violence, profanity, racism and sexual content, each with four intensity levels, plus separate toggles for tags including guro, incest, bestiality and non consent. You set those filters before you browse rather than discovering the content and backing out. The submission policy also states plainly that characters who look to be or are stated to be under 18 cannot be accepted, and staff reserve the right to remove violations without warning.
The genuine criticism is the paperwork. The terms of service page carries a revision date of 17 September 2012, and there is no separate privacy policy anywhere on the site. That matters because the 2012 document is where the data commitments live, and it reserves the right to retain material after removal, stating that content may not be truly deleted from the database. You can close your account from your profile settings, but the same page describes closure as deactivation rather than a purge. For a site that has otherwise thought carefully about what it will and will not host, the privacy side reads as unfinished.

FAQ
Is Hentai Foundry free?+
Yes. There is no paid tier, no subscription and no checkout anywhere on the site. Registration requires a working email address, and the site blocks some disposable email providers.
Does Hentai Foundry allow AI generated art?+
No. The submission policy was updated on 3 December 2022 to add an AI clause, which states that artwork generated by machine learning systems is not accepted.
How is Hentai Foundry different from sites like nhentai or hentaifox?+
Those are doujinshi archives that host scanned and translated published works. Hentai Foundry is a community gallery where artists post their own original drawings and fan art, and staff remove anything that is not the poster's own work.
